Casey Key

Casey Key Casey Key is easily one of the most special locations in Sarasota County. A true hidden gem, this narrow barrier island stretches 8 miles between Sarasota and Venice, and is home to some of the most whopping, jaw-dropping real estate in the area. One winding road runs down the center of the key and connects motels and other small mom-and-pop vacation spots on the south end to stunning estate homes on the north end. A charming drawbridge connects the island to the mainland on each end. Casey Key does not welcome large skyscrapers and is instead a treasure trove of peaceful nature. On any given day, you will find bicyclists riding along Blackburn Road, taking in the Florida sun and luxe scenery.  Homes here are dual waterfront, meaning that on one side of the home, they have access to beautiful boating water – many with yacht-sized docks – and on the other side, they have beach cabanas overlooking a pristine strip of private beach. Casey Key Beach itself is a peaceful setting. Often spared from large groups, you will likely find some of the most shy sea creatures on your beach day like stingrays, crabs and dolphins. A day on Casey Key equates to true relaxation. While there are not many options for dining or nightlife here, that is also part of the beauty. On the north end of the key, Casey Key Fish House is perhaps the most lively spot. Here, you’ll find a fun waterfront tiki bar accessible by boat, plus a delicious restaurant overlooking the intracoastal serving up fresh grouper bites and other local seafood.
